Possible Causes

Brew temperature too low due to failing thermostat, Scale buildup reducing water temperature, Misaligned outlet arm causing uneven saturation, Using incorrect filter or grind size

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Use caution when measuring hot water temperature; avoid contact with hot metal and steam.

  • Check brew temperature: Start a brew cycle with water only. After 1–2 minutes, collect water from the brew basket and measure with a food thermometer. Ideal brew temperature is typically around 92–96°C (197–205°F). Significantly lower temperatures indicate a thermostat or scale issue.
  • Descale the machine: Run a full descaling cycle to restore proper heat transfer in the heating block.
  • Inspect outlet arm: Ensure the outlet arm is correctly positioned over the center of the brew basket and that all holes are clear. Clean any blocked holes to improve spray pattern.
  • Verify coffee setup: Use the recommended filter size and a medium grind suitable for drip brewing. Adjust grind slightly finer if extraction remains weak.
  • Replace thermostat (if needed): If brew temperature remains low after descaling, test and replace the brew thermostat on the heating block.
