Possible Causes
Coffee residue buildup on drip-stop valve, Misaligned carafe lid not pressing valve, Broken drip-stop spring, Warped brew basket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off and unplug the unit. Allow the brew basket to cool before opening to avoid burns.
- Release backed-up coffee: Carefully remove the brew basket and place it over a sink. Manually lift or press the drip-stop valve to drain the coffee.
- Clean the mechanism: Disassemble the drip-stop (if possible) and soak in warm soapy water. Use a small brush to remove coffee oils and residue.
- Check spring action: Ensure the valve returns smoothly when pressed and released. If the spring is broken or missing, replace the drip-stop assembly.
- Verify carafe alignment: Make sure the carafe and lid are fully inserted so the lid actuator properly opens the drip-stop during brewing.
- Replace warped parts: If the basket is warped and prevents proper sealing or movement, replace the brew basket.
