Hotplate does not heat or keep coffee warm, but brewing works normally

Safety: Unplug the machine and allow the hotplate to cool completely before working on it.

• Confirm symptom: After a brew cycle, check if the hotplate remains cold to the touch after several minutes. Ensure any hotplate selector switch is set correctly.
• Access hotplate wiring: Remove the base cover. Locate the hotplate heating element and its thermostat under the warming plate.
• Inspect connections: Check for loose or burned spade connectors. Reseat or replace connectors as needed.
• Test hotplate element: Disconnect the element leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed hotplate element; replace the hotplate assembly.
• Test hotplate thermostat: Measure continuity across the thermostat at room temperature. If open, replace the thermostat with the correct temperature-rated part.
• Check selector switch (if present): Test the switch for continuity in each position. Replace if intermittent or open.
