Loss of Carafe Insulation or Lid Seal
Thermal carafe does not keep coffee hot for long
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Failed vacuum insulation in thermal carafe, Worn carafe lid gasket, Lid not sealing properly, Internal carafe damage from impact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Handle glass-lined thermal carafes carefully to avoid breakage.
- Preheat carafe: Rinse the carafe with hot water before brewing to improve heat retention.
- Check lid seal: Ensure the lid is fully tightened and the gasket is intact. Replace the lid gasket if it is cracked or hardened.
- Test insulation: Fill the carafe with hot water, close the lid, and check temperature after 1–2 hours. If it cools rapidly, the vacuum insulation may be compromised.
- Replace carafe: If insulation has failed, the thermal carafe must be replaced; it is not repairable.
