Safety: Do not repeatedly reset the breaker. Unplug the coffee maker immediately. Water and electricity are a serious hazard.

Inspect for moisture: Check for signs of water leakage around the base and inside the housing. Resolve any leaks before further testing.
Open the base: Remove the base cover and visually inspect all wiring for melted insulation, burn marks, or pinched wires.
Test heating element: Disconnect the heating element and measure resistance to chassis ground. Any continuity to ground indicates a shorted element; replace the heating block assembly.
Check switch and connections: Inspect the on/off switch and connectors for signs of arcing or melting. Replace any damaged components.
Reassemble and test: After repairs, test the unit on a protected circuit and monitor for normal operation.
