Possible Causes

Limescale buildup in aluminum heating block, Clogged vertical riser tube, Mineral deposits in outlet arm, Debris in one-way valve at base of reservoir

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool fully. Hot metal parts can cause burns.

  • Check for obvious blockages: Remove the outlet arm (spray arm) from the top of the machine. Inspect for coffee grounds or scale blocking the holes. Clean with a small brush or toothpick.
  • Descale the system: Fill the water reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water up to the max line. Place an empty filter in the brew basket and the carafe on the hotplate. Plug in and start a brew cycle. After half the solution has passed, switch off and let it sit for 20–30 minutes to dissolve scale, then complete the cycle. Run 2–3 full cycles of clean water afterward.
  • Inspect riser tube: If flow is still weak, remove the top cover (if model allows) to access the vertical riser tube from the heating block to the outlet arm. Detach the tube and check for mineral blockage. Soak in descaling solution and flush thoroughly.
  • Check one-way valve: At the base of the reservoir, locate the one-way valve (check valve). Remove and rinse under warm water, ensuring it moves freely. Replace if stuck or cracked.
