Safety first: Allow the machine to cool before inspecting the filter area.

• Check drip stop: Ensure the carafe is fully pushed under the filter holder to open the drip stop valve. Clean the valve so it moves freely.
• Check for leaks: Look for water under or around the machine after brewing. If present, see internal leak troubleshooting.
• Verify markings: Compare the water tank markings with the carafe markings; some models use different scales.
• Descale: Scale can cause more steam and less liquid output. Run a descaling cycle.

If the discrepancy is large and persistent, internal leaks or flow issues may be present and require service.
