Possible Causes
Faulty start button or keypad, Mis-set timer or delayed start, Lid or carafe not detected, Control PCB logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any covers.
- Cancel timer: Ensure the delayed start or timer function is not active. Press the PROGRAM or TIMER button to cancel any scheduled brew.
- Check lid and carafe: Many Morphy Richards filter coffee makers have a lid-closed or carafe-present switch. Ensure the lid is fully closed and the glass carafe is seated correctly on the hot plate.
- Test start button: Press the start/brew button firmly and hold for 1–2 seconds. If it feels loose or unresponsive, the tact switch under the keypad may be worn.
- Inspect keypad (advanced): Remove the control panel cover and check the ribbon cable from the keypad to the PCB. Reseat the connector. If the start button tact switch is physically damaged, it will need to be soldered out and replaced.
If the machine still will not start, the control PCB may not be registering inputs and should be serviced or replaced.
