Possible Causes

Scale build-up in aluminium heating block, Scale in water lines and valves, Flow meter detecting reduced flow, User has not reset descale counter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the machine to cool before starting descaling. Use only food-safe descaling products.

  • Run full descaling cycle: Fill the water tank with a Morphy Richards-approved descaler solution mixed according to instructions. Start the descale program from the menu or by pressing the indicated buttons.
  • Follow prompts: Let the machine run the full cycle, including pauses to dissolve scale. Do not interrupt power.
  • Rinse thoroughly: After descaling, rinse the tank and run 2–3 full tanks of fresh water through the system to remove any descaler residue.
  • Reset descale indicator: Use the control panel to reset the descale reminder (refer to your specific model manual). On many Morphy Richards digital coffee makers, this is done by holding the PROGRAM or CLEAN button for several seconds.

If the DESC or CLEAN message remains after a full descale and reset, the flow meter or control PCB may be misreading flow and should be checked by a technician.
