Possible Causes
Scale in pump or thermoblock, Partially blocked group head, Airlock in pump, Worn pump valves
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before removing covers; normal descaling can be done with power off until the cycle is started.
- Run hot water only: Without coffee in the portafilter, run hot water through the group head to see if flow improves.
- Descale thoroughly: Use a descaler suitable for espresso machines and run multiple cycles through the espresso circuit.
- Bleed air: Run water through the steam wand and group head alternately to clear air from the pump.
- Clean group head: Remove and clean the shower screen and gasket area.
If the pump remains loud with poor flow, the vibration pump may be worn and should be replaced.
