Safety first: Unplug and let the machine cool before inspecting the basket area.

• Reduce fill level: Do not exceed the maximum coffee level indicated in the filter basket.
• Inspect latch: Check the latch or locking tabs that hold the basket in place. If cracked or worn, the basket may not stay closed.
• Clean hinge area: Remove coffee residue from the hinge and latch area to ensure smooth operation.
• Replace basket assembly: If the latch is broken, replace the entire filter basket/holder assembly with a compatible Morphy Richards part.

Do not operate the machine with a basket that cannot be securely latched.
