Possible Causes

Scale buildup causing localized overheating in heater tube, Failed thermal cutoff (TCO) partially open, Blocked water path causing dry heating, Faulty control board temperature calibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit immediately and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not continue to run the unit with this error.

  • Descale thoroughly:
    • Perform a full descaling cycle with a 1:1 vinegar-water solution as described in the CLEAN error instructions.
  • Check for restricted flow:
    • Run a water-only cycle and observe if water flow is weak or intermittent.

If E2 persists after descaling and normal flow is restored, the thermal cutoff or control board may be faulty. These components are mounted on or near the heating element and should be replaced by a professional.
