Possible Causes
Brew thermostat still above safe restart temperature, Overly sensitive temperature sensor, Inadequate cooling time between cycles
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to cool the unit rapidly with water or ice; this can crack components.
- Allow cooling time:
- Turn the unit off and unplug it.
- Wait 10–20 minutes for internal temperature to drop.
- Improve ventilation:
- Ensure the coffee maker has at least a few inches of clearance on all sides and is not under a low cabinet trapping heat.
If the HOT message appears even after long idle periods, the temperature sensor may be misreading and should be checked by a technician.
