Possible Causes
Stagnant water left in tank, Poor cleaning routine, Warm storage conditions, Contaminated water source
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not use the machine until all visible mold or slime is removed. Mold can be harmful if ingested.
- Deep clean tank: Discard water, wash the tank with hot water and mild dish soap. Use a soft brush to scrub corners and around the valve. Rinse thoroughly.
- Sanitize: Fill the tank with a solution of water and a food-safe sanitizer (or a small amount of unscented household bleach, e.g., 1 teaspoon per liter). Let sit for 5–10 minutes, then rinse repeatedly until no odor remains.
- Clean seals and holder: Wash the capsule holder, drip tray, and any removable seals in hot soapy water.
- Flush machine: Run several tanks of fresh water through the machine (no capsules) before making coffee.
If mold is suspected inside non-removable parts, professional disassembly and cleaning may be required.
