Possible Causes

Residue in water tank, Dirty capsule holder, Old stagnant water in system, Non-food-safe cleaning agents used

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not ingest beverages that smell strongly of chemicals or plastic.

  • Clean water tank: Wash the tank with mild dish soap, rinse thoroughly, and let it air dry. Do not use scented detergents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Clean capsule holder and drip tray: Soak in warm soapy water, rinse well, and dry.
  • Flush system: Fill the tank with fresh water and run at least two full tanks (hot and cold) through the machine without capsules.
  • Descale: If the machine has not been descaled recently, perform a descaling cycle.

If off-flavors persist after thorough cleaning and flushing, internal components may be contaminated and require professional cleaning or replacement.
