Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before opening it. Hot water may still be inside after descaling.
Software / procedure checks:
- Repeat the descaling procedure exactly as per the user manual, including the final rinse steps and exit sequence.
- Ensure you press and hold the correct buttons for the required time to exit descale mode.
Flow meter inspection:
- If the descale light still will not clear, open the housing and locate the flow meter (small plastic disc with two or three wires, in the water line from the tank to the pump).
- Check for kinks or blockages in the hoses to and from the flow meter.
- Remove the flow meter and flush it with warm water to free a stuck turbine.
- With a multimeter, verify that the flow meter generates pulses when water is blown through it (for advanced users).
If the flow meter is defective, replace it with the correct Nespresso-compatible part. If the hardware is good but the descale flag will not reset, the control board may need replacement or reprogramming.
