Possible Causes
Water reservoir not fully seated on base, Water level below minimum sensor, Faulty water level sensor or float in reservoir, Blocked reservoir outlet port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug before removing the reservoir.
Check water level and seating:
- Remove the water reservoir and fill it at least to the MIN or SMALL CUP line.
- Inspect the bottom outlet valve for debris or coffee grounds; rinse thoroughly.
- Reinstall the reservoir firmly, ensuring it clicks or sits flush on the base.
Clear airlocks and blockages:
- With the reservoir removed, inspect the water inlet on the coffee maker body for scale or debris.
- Use a damp cotton swab to gently clean the inlet area.
- Reinstall the reservoir and gently tap it down to ensure good contact.
Test brew:
- Plug the unit back in, power on, and select a small brew size.
- If ADD WATR still appears despite a full reservoir, try a full descale cycle to clear internal sensors.
If the message persists after cleaning and descaling, the water level sensor or reservoir assembly may be defective and should be replaced.
