Possible Causes
Heavy limescale buildup in internal water lines, Mineral deposits on heating element, Dirty brew basket and filter screen, Clogged water inlet needle or valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool completely before handling any internal parts.
Run a full descale cycle:
- Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water (or use Ninja-branded descaling solution per bottle instructions).
- Fill the water reservoir to the MAX line with the solution.
- Place an empty carafe on the warming plate and ensure the brew basket is empty (no coffee grounds).
- Plug in the unit, power it on, and select the CLEAN or DESCALE cycle (refer to your specific Ninja model instructions).
- Allow the full cleaning cycle to run without interruption. This may take 45–60 minutes.
Rinse cycle:
- After the cleaning cycle completes, discard the solution from the carafe.
- Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and fill with fresh water only.
- Run at least 2 full brew cycles with plain water to flush out any remaining vinegar or descaler.
Clean brew components:
- Remove and wash the brew basket, permanent filter (if equipped), and carafe with warm soapy water.
- Inspect and gently clean the water outlet and showerhead area with a soft brush or cloth.
If the CLn/CLEAN message remains after a full descale and rinse, repeat the descale once more. Persistent messages may indicate a faulty flow or temperature sensor and require professional service.
