Possible Causes

Insufficient water in reservoir, Heating element overheating due to scale, Faulty temperature sensor (thermistor), Blocked internal water line causing dry heat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before proceeding.

Check water supply:

  • Ensure the water reservoir is filled above the minimum line and properly seated.
  • Inspect the reservoir outlet for blockages and clean if necessary.

Descale the system:

  • Once cooled, run a full descale cycle using a 1:1 vinegar and water solution or Ninja-approved descaler.
  • This helps remove scale from the heating element and internal tubing that can cause localized overheating.

Reset and test:

  • After descaling and rinsing, unplug the unit again for 5 minutes, then plug back in.
  • Run a small water-only brew to test.

If E01 returns even with adequate water and after descaling, the temperature sensor or thermal fuse may be faulty and should be tested and replaced by a technician.
