Possible Causes

Carafe not fully seated on warming plate, Drip stop lever stuck in closed position, Carafe detection switch misaligned or failed, Debris under carafe platform

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug before adjusting mechanical parts.

Check carafe placement:

  • Remove the carafe and inspect the warming plate for debris or coffee grounds.
  • Clean the plate and the bottom of the carafe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Re-seat the carafe firmly so it is centered and fully contacting the plate.

Inspect drip stop:

  • Open the brew basket and locate the drip stop lever or valve.
  • Ensure it moves freely; clean any dried coffee residue that may be preventing it from opening.
  • Operate the lever several times to confirm smooth movement.

Test:

  • Plug the unit back in and attempt a small brew.

If E04 continues, the carafe detection switch or internal microswitch may be faulty and require replacement.
