Safety first: Ensure good ventilation when running initial cycles.
Initial cleaning:
- Wash the carafe, brew basket, and removable parts with warm soapy water and rinse well.
- Run 2–3 full reservoirs of plain water through the machine before brewing coffee.
The odor should diminish quickly. If a strong burning or electrical smell persists, stop using the unit and have it inspected.
