Possible Causes
Residual manufacturing oils in reservoir or tubing, New plastic components off-gassing, Using non-filtered water with strong odors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Initial cleaning:
- Before first use and if taste issues occur, run 2–3 full reservoirs of plain water through the machine.
- Then run a cycle with a 1:1 vinegar-water solution, followed by 2–3 rinse cycles with fresh water.
Component cleaning:
- Wash the reservoir, carafe, and brew basket with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
Water quality:
- Use filtered or bottled water if your tap water has strong odors or tastes.
If the plastic taste persists after multiple cleanings, there may be an issue with the reservoir or internal tubing materials; contact Oster support for possible replacement.
