Possible Causes

Normal safety lockout while boiler is hot, Faulty temperature sensor reading too high, Control board not resetting temperature status

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Normal behavior: Many Oster coffee makers display HOT and prevent a new brew cycle until the internal boiler and warming plate cool to a safe temperature.

What to do:

  • Turn the unit off and leave it plugged in so the fanless cooling can occur naturally.
  • Wait 10–20 minutes, then try starting a new brew cycle.

If HOT persists for an unusually long time:

  • Unplug the unit for 15 minutes to reset the control board.
  • If the HOT message appears immediately on power-up when the unit is cold, the temperature sensor or control board may be faulty and require replacement.
