OXO
Under‑Extraction / Low Brew Temperature or Short Contact Time
Brewed coffee is much weaker than expected, even with normal coffee amounts.

Possible Causes
Brew water temperature too low due to failing heater, Water bypassing grounds due to uneven spray, Too coarse grind or insufficient coffee, Incorrect brew volume setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when checking temperature; do not place hands in hot coffee.
- Verify settings: Check that the brew strength and volume settings are correct for your desired coffee strength.
- Check grind and dose: Use a medium grind and the coffee‑to‑water ratio recommended by OXO (often around 1–2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water).
- Clean spray head: Remove and clean the Rainmaker or spray head to ensure even distribution of water over the grounds.
- Descale: Run a descale cycle. Scale can reduce heating efficiency, lowering brew temperature and causing weak coffee.
- Measure temperature (optional): If you have a food thermometer, measure the coffee temperature in the carafe immediately after brewing. It should typically be around 195–205°F (90–96°C) at the grounds. Significantly lower temperatures suggest a heater issue requiring service.
