- Check carafe type: Use only the original OXO carafe supplied with the machine. Third‑party carafes may not trigger the sensor correctly.
- Clean the base: Wipe the warming plate and surrounding area to remove coffee residue that might obstruct a mechanical switch.
- Test sensor: With the unit unplugged, gently press down on the center of the warming plate (if it has some movement). You may feel a slight click from the switch. If there is no movement or it feels stuck, the switch may be jammed or broken.
- Service if unresolved: Persistent “NO CARAFE” errors with the correct carafe in place indicate a failed presence switch or sensor circuit, requiring professional replacement.
