Possible Causes

Too fine coffee grind causing slow drainage, Overfilled basket with coffee, Clogged paper or metal filter, Drip‑stop valve stuck closed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Hot coffee can cause burns. Press the power button to stop brewing and allow the unit to cool before cleaning up.

  • Stop the brew: Turn off the coffee maker immediately to prevent further overflow.
  • Check coffee amount and grind: Use the amount of coffee recommended by OXO and a medium grind. Very fine espresso grind will clog the filter.
  • Inspect filter: Remove the paper or metal filter and discard grounds. Rinse the filter thoroughly to remove oils and fines that can block flow.
  • Clean drip‑stop: Check the drip‑stop lever or plunger at the bottom of the basket. Ensure it moves freely and is not jammed by grounds. Rinse and clean as needed.
  • Test with water only: Run a water‑only cycle with an empty, clean basket to confirm proper drainage before brewing coffee again.
