Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC thermistor on heater plate, Thermal fuse tripped, Scale buildup causing localized overheating, Faulty main control PCB temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not bypass safety devices.
- Allow full cool-down: If the unit was used repeatedly, the overheat protection may have triggered. After cooling, plug in and test again.
- Descale the system: Heavy scale on the aluminum heating block can cause hot spots. Run a full descaling cycle using Panasonic-approved descaler or a 1:1 vinegar solution, followed by several rinse cycles.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the coffee maker is not enclosed in a tight cabinet and that vents are not blocked.
- Do not bypass fuses: If H01 persists, the NTC thermistor or thermal fuse on the heater assembly may be open. These are safety-critical components and should be tested and replaced only by a qualified technician.
