Possible Causes
Water tank not seated correctly, Water tank level sensor dirty or scaled, Blocked water inlet screen in reservoir, Scale buildup in internal water path
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before any work. Never work on a hot appliance with power connected.
- Check water tank seating: Remove the water tank, empty it, rinse, then refill to the MAX line. Reinstall firmly so the bottom valve fully engages the inlet on the base. Many Panasonic models will show U14 if the tank is slightly misaligned.
- Clean tank level area: Inspect the bottom of the tank and the mating area on the base for coffee grounds, film, or scale. Clean with a soft cloth and mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly.
- Clean inlet screen: Look inside the base where the tank sits for a small mesh or plastic inlet screen. If visible, gently brush away debris with a soft brush and flush with a small amount of warm water (do not flood electronics).
- Descale the machine: Fill the tank with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water (or Panasonic-approved descaler). Run a brew cycle without coffee, stopping halfway to let it soak 20–30 minutes, then complete the cycle. Run 2–3 full tanks of clean water afterward to rinse.
- Test again: Reconnect power and run a normal brew. If U14 persists, the internal water level sensor or flow path may be failing and professional service is recommended.
