Philips Under-Extraction / Low Coffee Dose

Coffee is too weak or watery even at maximum strength setting.

Possible Causes

Grind too coarse, Worn grinder burrs, Incorrect grinder calibration, Brew group not compressing puck properly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Adjust grinder only as recommended in the user manual.

  • Adjust grind finer: While the grinder is running (during a coffee preparation), turn the grind selector one step finer. Do not make large changes at once.
  • Increase strength: Set the aroma/strength setting to maximum on the control panel.
  • Use fresh beans: Old or oily beans can produce weak coffee. Use fresh, medium-roast beans suitable for espresso.
  • Clean brew group: A dirty or sticky brew group may not compress the coffee puck correctly. Clean and lubricate it as per Philips instructions.

If coffee remains weak, the grinder burrs may be worn or the dosing mechanism faulty. Replacing the grinder assembly or recalibrating the dose is an advanced repair.
