Display shows E02 and brewing stops or does not start; sometimes accompanied by loud pump noise.

Safety: Disconnect power and let the machine cool before removing covers.

• Check water tank and valve: Remove the tank, press the valve at the bottom with your finger to ensure it moves freely and water flows. Clean any coffee grounds or slime from the valve and tank seat on the machine.
• Prime the system: Fill the tank fully, reinstall it firmly, then turn the machine on. If your Philips model has a hot water function, open it and run water until a steady stream appears. This can clear airlocks.
• Descale: Run a full descaling cycle using Philips/Saeco descaler. A blocked hydraulic circuit can trigger E02.
• Listen to the pump: During a brew attempt, if the pump is very loud and no water flows, the circuit is likely blocked. If the pump is silent, it may be electrically faulty.
• Advanced check: With the machine unplugged, remove the side/top cover and inspect the silicone hoses from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the boiler/thermoblock. Look for kinks, pinched hoses, or scale buildup at fittings. Replace any hardened or collapsed hoses.

If the error remains after descaling and hose inspection, the ULKA pump may need replacement. This involves disconnecting high-voltage components; if you are not experienced, use a professional technician.
