Possible Causes
Stuck 3-way valve, Broken brew unit outlet, Internal leak to drip tray, Faulty valve actuator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine and let it cool before opening panels.
- Check drip tray volume: If the drip tray fills very quickly during a single brew, water is being diverted internally, often by a stuck valve.
- Clean and lubricate brew group: Remove and clean the brew group, then lubricate the moving parts. A stiff brew group can cause incorrect valve operation.
- Descale: Run a full descaling cycle to clear scale from the 3-way valve and internal channels.
- Advanced inspection: Remove the side panel and locate the 3-way valve (usually near the brew group outlet). Check for obvious leaks or disconnected hoses. Do not disassemble the valve unless you are experienced; it is easy to damage seals.
If E09 remains, the 3-way valve or its actuator is likely defective and should be replaced by a professional.
