Possible Causes

Faulty water tank float magnet, Dirty or stuck float, Failed reed switch or Hall sensor on chassis, Misaligned tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the machine before inspecting sensors.

  • Check tank float: Remove the water tank and look for the small plastic float inside (often with a magnet). Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any slime or scale and rinse thoroughly.
  • Verify magnet presence: Some Philips tanks use a small magnet embedded in the float. If the float is cracked or the magnet is missing, replace the tank.
  • Clean sensor area: On the machine side, clean the area where the tank sits. Wipe away coffee dust or scale that may interfere with the sensor.
  • Re-seat tank firmly: Insert the tank straight and push it fully into place to ensure proper alignment with the sensor.

If E13 persists, the internal reed switch or Hall sensor may be defective and require replacement by a technician.
