Possible Causes

Dry or unlubricated brew group, Worn drive gears, Misaligned brew group, Obstruction in drive path

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the machine before removing the brew group.

  • Clean and lubricate brew group: Remove the brew group, rinse it, and let it dry. Apply Philips/Saeco food-grade grease to the side rails, piston shaft, and other moving joints.
  • Inspect for damage: Check the brew group for cracked plastic parts or broken levers. Replace the brew group if damaged.
  • Check drive area: With the brew group removed, inspect the internal drive gear area for loose coffee grounds or foreign objects. Vacuum or brush out debris.
  • Reinsert correctly: Ensure the brew group is in the neutral position and clicks firmly into place before closing the door.

If loud knocking continues, the internal drive gears or motor may be worn and require replacement.
