How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation when running initial cycles.
- Initial cleaning: Wash the carafe, lid, and brew basket with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Run water cycles: Run 2–3 full brew cycles with clean water only (no coffee) to flush the system.
- Optional vinegar rinse: Run one cycle with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution, followed by 2–3 water-only cycles.
- Persistent odor: If the plastic smell remains strong after multiple cycles, discontinue use and contact Proctor Silex support, as internal components may be overheating.
