Possible Causes
Overheating causing thermostat to open, Loose connection on heater terminals, Failing thermal fuse or thermostat, Control board cutting power prematurely
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool fully before inspection.
- Check for overheating: If the base feels excessively hot or there is a burnt smell, stop using the unit until inspected.
- Descale: Heavy scale can cause localized overheating. Run a full descaling cycle with vinegar and water as described earlier.
- Inspect heater wiring: Remove the bottom cover and check that all heater and thermostat connections are tight and not discolored.
- Test thermostat: With a multimeter, test continuity of the thermostat when the unit is cool. If it remains open, it has failed and must be replaced.
- Control issue: If hardware checks out but the unit still stops mid-cycle, the control PCB may be misreading temperature or time and will need replacement.
