Possible Causes
Insufficient water in reservoir, Misaligned removable water reservoir (on compatible models), Faulty water level float or sensor, Debris preventing float movement
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the reservoir.
- Fill reservoir: Ensure the water reservoir is filled above the minimum fill line.
- Reseat reservoir: On models with a removable reservoir, remove it and reinstall firmly so that the bottom valve fully engages the base inlet.
- Check float: If your reservoir has a visible float, make sure it moves freely. Rinse the reservoir with warm soapy water and flush thoroughly to remove any coffee oils or debris.
- Inspect sensor area: Look at the base where the reservoir sits. Clean any coffee grounds or scale that might interfere with the sensor or valve.
- Persistent issue: If the ADD WATER message remains even with a full, properly seated reservoir, the water level sensor or associated wiring in the base may be faulty and require service or replacement.
