Water leaks from the top of the brew basket or overflows onto the counter during brewing.

Possible Causes
Too fine coffee grind or too much coffee, Clogged drip stop valve in brew basket, Blocked filter paper or double filters, Misaligned carafe not depressing drip stop
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool before cleaning up hot coffee spills.
- Adjust coffee amount: Use the recommended amount of medium-grind coffee. Overfilling the filter basket can cause overflow.
- Check filter: Ensure only one paper filter or the permanent mesh filter is used, not both together unless specified.
- Clean drip stop valve: Remove the brew basket and inspect the spring-loaded drip stop at the bottom. Rinse thoroughly and operate it by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Seat carafe properly: Make sure the carafe is fully pushed back so its lid presses the drip stop open during brewing.
- Descale if slow drain persists: Mineral buildup in the basket outlet can slow drainage; soak the basket in warm vinegar solution and rinse.
