Possible Causes

Brew pressure too high causing frequent venting, Leaking boiler safety valve routed to tray, Internal leak from autofill circuit, Misadjusted expansion valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug and allow the machine to cool before inspecting internal plumbing.

  • Observe sources: Remove the drip tray and watch where water enters during idle and brew. Identify whether it comes from the group drain, safety valve tube, or another hose.
  • Check expansion valve: If water flows from the expansion valve line during brewing, brew pressure may be too high. Adjust the expansion valve to factory pressure (typically ~9 bar) using a portafilter gauge.
  • Inspect safety valve: If water drips from the safety valve tube at normal pressure, replace the safety valve.
  • Autofill leaks: Check the autofill solenoid and boiler inlet fittings for leaks that may be routed to the tray.
