Possible Causes
Scaled boiler level probe, Broken level probe wire, Faulty autofill relay on control board, Grounding issue on boiler
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine and allow the boiler to cool. Open the steam valve to release pressure.
- Inspect boiler level: If the sight glass (if equipped) shows overfilled boiler, do not continue to run the machine. Drain to a safe level via hot water tap.
- Clean level probe: Remove the level probe from the top of the boiler. Descale the metal rod with citric acid or a commercial descaler until shiny. Rinse and reinstall with a new gasket if needed.
- Check wiring: Ensure the level probe wire is intact and firmly connected to both the probe and the control board. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Verify boiler ground: The boiler must be properly grounded for the level circuit to work. Check the ground strap from boiler to chassis.
- Control board: If the probe and wiring are good but the pump still runs continuously or never starts, the autofill relay or level circuit on the control board may be defective. Replace the board.
Note: After service, monitor the first few fill cycles to ensure the boiler stops filling at the correct level.
