Possible Causes

Misconfigured dose settings, Faulty flowmeter calibration, Air in lines affecting flow measurement, Control board memory error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No internal high‑voltage work is required for basic checks, but unplug the machine if removing covers.

  • Reset dosing: Enter the programming menu and reset volumetric doses to factory defaults (refer to the Rancilio manual for your model).
  • Prime the system: Run several manual brew cycles to remove air from the hydraulic circuit. Air bubbles can cause erratic flowmeter readings.
  • Recalibrate doses: Program each dose by timing and volume, following the manufacturer procedure. Save settings and test.
  • Check flowmeter: If E13 persists, inspect and clean the flowmeter as described for E04. Replace if necessary.
  • Control board: Persistent calibration errors after hardware checks may indicate a memory fault on the control board; replacement may be required.
