Possible Causes
Worn group head gasket, Dirty or damaged portafilter rim, Incorrect basket or portafilter thickness, Coffee grounds on gasket surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the machine before replacing gaskets. Allow the group to cool.
- Clean contact surfaces: Wipe the group head gasket area and portafilter rim to remove coffee oils and grounds.
- Inspect gasket: Look up into the group head. If the gasket is cracked, hardened, or deformed, it should be replaced.
- Replace group gasket: Use a gasket removal tool or a small flat screwdriver to pry out the old gasket. Install a new Rocket E61 group gasket of the correct thickness, ensuring it seats evenly.
- Check portafilter fit: Lock in the portafilter. It should tighten around the 6 o'clock position. If it goes far past that, the gasket may be too thin or worn.
