Possible Causes
Worn steam valve seat gasket, Scale buildup on valve seat, Misadjusted steam knob, Damaged valve stem
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the machine. Allow the boiler to cool and depressurize fully before working on the steam valve.
- Exercise the valve: Open and close the steam knob fully several times. Sometimes minor debris can be flushed out.
- Clean steam tip: Remove the steam tip and soak it in descaling solution. A blocked tip can cause backpressure and leaks.
- Disassemble valve (intermediate): Remove the steam knob and unscrew the valve assembly. Inspect the small PTFE or rubber seat at the end of the valve stem. Replace if worn or grooved.
- Descale valve body: Clean the valve seat area with a descaling solution and a soft brush, then rinse thoroughly before reassembly.
