Possible Causes
Clogged three-way valve with coffee oils, Scale buildup in valve body, Failed solenoid coil, Stuck valve plunger
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool before servicing the valve.
- Backflush with detergent: Use a blind basket and espresso machine detergent to clean the three-way valve internally.
- Listen for click: During a brew cycle, listen for a distinct click from the solenoid when starting and stopping. No click suggests a failed coil or no power.
- Disassemble valve (intermediate): Remove the solenoid coil and valve body. Clean the plunger and internal passages with descaling solution, then rinse thoroughly.
- Replace coil if needed: If the coil is open-circuit or overheated, replace it with a compatible Rocket solenoid coil.
