Possible Causes

Worn E61 group valve gaskets, Debris on valve seats, Misadjusted cam follower, Dry or worn cam lubrication

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the machine. Allow the group to cool before disassembly.

  • Backflush first: Perform a thorough backflush with detergent to remove debris that may be preventing the valves from sealing.
  • Check lever feel: Move the E61 lever up and down. If it feels rough or notchy, the cam and valves may need service.
  • Service the group (intermediate): Remove the lever, cam, and valve assemblies. Inspect and replace the small valve gaskets and springs as needed. Clean the valve seats.
  • Lubricate cam: Apply food-safe silicone grease to the cam surfaces and reassemble. Proper lubrication helps the valves seat fully.
