Possible Causes
Faulty brew button on control panel, Loose ribbon cable to PCB, Control PCB logic failure, Safety interlock (carafe or lid) not engaged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any covers.
- Check safety interlocks: Ensure the carafe is fully seated, the filter basket is closed, and any top lid is properly latched. Many Russell Hobbs models will not start if these are open.
- Try different modes: Attempt manual brew instead of timer, or vice versa, to see if any mode responds.
- Panel cleaning: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and dry it. Do not allow moisture to seep into the buttons.
- Inspect ribbon cable: If accessible, remove the top cover and reseat the ribbon cable between the keypad/display board and main PCB.
- If the brew button still does not respond: The keypad PCB or main control PCB may need replacement.
