Possible Causes
Bean hopper lid not closed fully, Broken lid tab that actuates microswitch, Misaligned or failed hopper safety microswitch, Wiring fault to lid switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before manipulating the hopper area.
- Check lid closure: Open and firmly close the bean hopper lid. Ensure it clicks into place and sits flush.
- Inspect lid tab: Look for a small plastic tab or magnet on the underside of the lid that engages the safety switch. If broken, the switch will not detect closure.
- Test switch action: With the lid open and the unit unplugged, gently press the switch lever (if visible) and feel for a click.
- Temporary test (for diagnosis only): If you can safely and temporarily hold the switch closed with a non-conductive tool while starting a cycle (unit plugged in), and E10 clears, the lid or switch is at fault. Do not operate permanently bypassing the safety switch.
- Permanent fix: Replace the bean hopper lid if the tab is broken, or the hopper safety microswitch if it fails to actuate.
