Possible Causes
Open or shorted thermistor on heating plate, Thermistor wiring harness damaged, Control PCB temperature sensing circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and let the hot plate cool completely before touching the base.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for at least 5 minutes to discharge the control board, then reconnect and check if E2 clears.
- Inspect underside: Turn the unit upside down (tank removed and empty) and visually inspect the base for obvious damage or burnt smell near the hot plate area.
- Check for moisture: If water has spilled into the base, allow the unit to dry for 24 hours in a warm, ventilated area, then test again.
- Advanced check (for experienced users): Remove the base screws to access the hot plate assembly. Locate the small thermistor clipped to the hot plate or boiler tube. Check that its wires are intact and the connector is firmly seated on the control PCB.
- If damaged: Replace the temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) assembly. If the sensor tests fine but E2 remains, the control PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
