Possible Causes
Ground coffee chute blocked, Excessive oil buildup from dark roasts, Misaligned grinder outlet flap, Broken chute cover
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before cleaning the grinder area.
- Access the chute: Remove the filter basket and locate the opening where ground coffee should drop. On many Russell Hobbs grind-and-brew models, this is directly under the grinder outlet.
- Brush out grounds: Use a small, dry brush or wooden stick to loosen compacted grounds in the chute. Avoid metal tools that could damage plastic parts.
- Clean grinder outlet: If the upper grinder cover can be removed, clean around the outlet flap and ensure it moves freely.
- Run a test: With the machine reassembled, run a short grind-only cycle and confirm that grounds fall into the basket.
- If blockage recurs: Consider using slightly lighter roast beans and cleaning the chute more frequently. If the chute flap or cover is cracked or warped, replace the grinder chute assembly.
