Possible Causes

Blocked flow meter due to limescale, Flow meter electrical failure, Airlock in inlet line, Loose flow meter connector on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the machine before moving or tilting it.

  • Check water tank and filter:
    • Remove and thoroughly rinse the water tank.
    • Ensure the Sage water filter (if fitted) is not clogged; try running the machine briefly without the filter installed.
    • Make sure the tank is fully seated and the float moves freely.
  • Clear airlocks:
    • Fill the tank completely.
    • With the machine on, run the hot water function (if available) until a steady stream appears. This can purge air from the system.
  • Descale: Run a full descale cycle to clear limescale from the flow meter and inlet lines.
  • Internal check (advanced):
    • Access the flow meter (usually located between the water tank outlet and the pump).
    • Inspect for kinks in hoses or visible scale buildup.
    • Check the electrical connector from the flow meter to the main PCB.
  • Repair: If the flow meter is seized or its sensor has failed, replace the flow meter assembly. Ensure correct orientation of inlet/outlet arrows.
  • Service: If ER04 persists after descaling and tank checks, professional diagnosis is recommended.
