How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine before placing hands near the grinder. Never insert tools into the grinder while powered.
- Check hopper and beans:
- Remove the bean hopper and check for foreign objects (stones, screws, etc.).
- Ensure beans are dry and not oily/clumped, which can jam the burrs.
- Verify hopper lock:
- On many Sage models, the hopper must be rotated to the LOCK position to engage a hopper microswitch.
- Ensure it clicks firmly into place.
- Clear grinder jam:
- With the hopper removed, vacuum out loose grounds.
- Rotate the grind adjustment collar from fine to coarse several times to free stuck particles.
- If accessible, gently rotate the upper burr carrier by hand to check for free movement.
- Test again: Reassemble and test. If ER08 persists and the grinder does not attempt to turn, the motor or its thermal protector may have failed.
- Repair: Replace the grinder motor assembly or complete grinder module if the motor is open-circuit or seized. Ensure correct alignment of burrs and calibration marks.
